THE TRAVERSE — The Year LZ Refused to Stop
What do you create when you have almost nothing?
For LZThir13, the answer was music.
The Traverse comes from one of the most difficult and productive periods of LZ’s journey—a time when he was homeless, moving through shelters, entering rehabilitation programs, searching for employment, and trying to find a way forward.
And somehow, in the middle of all of that, four albums were created in the same year.
That fact changes how The Traverse should be heard.
This wasn’t music made from comfort.
It wasn’t created from a studio surrounded by luxury or an established career.
It was created while trying to survive, rebuild, and keep moving.
The title The Traverse represents that movement: crossing difficult territory without knowing exactly what waits on the other side.
Every obstacle became part of the journey.
Every setback became another mile.
Every song became another step.
And while circumstances could take away a home, stability, money, employment, and certainty, they couldn’t take away the ability to create.
That’s what makes this album an important piece of the LZ story.
For a new listener, The Traverse is an opportunity to discover an artist creating under pressure.
For someone who has experienced homelessness, addiction recovery, unemployment, instability, or simply felt like life had pushed them to the edge, the album can be heard as something different:
a soundtrack for continuing forward when stopping would be easier.
This is not an album about pretending everything was perfect.
It’s an album born from the opposite.
LZ was going through it—and he kept creating.
Four albums.
One year.
One journey.
One traverse.
THE TRAVERSE
When life gave him nowhere to stand, he kept moving.
