THE CARNAL OF LZ — The Awakening

Before the ministry, there was the struggle.
Before the freedom, there was the cage.
Before LZThir13 found his way out, he had to survive what was trying to keep him inside.

The Carnal of LZ is the third album in the early LZ journey—and unlike the projects that came before it, this one carries the weight of an experience that was lived rather than imagined.

The artwork itself was drawn while LZThir13 was incarcerated, making the cover more than an illustration. It became a visual record of the state of mind behind the music.

At the center is the brain inside the birdcage—a mind trapped by the circumstances, pressures, and realities imposed by life.

Above it comes the hand of LordThir13, a.k.a. Zog, breaking through from the sky. The arm reaches into the cage, piercing the imprisonment and resuscitating the mind back toward life and freedom.

And then there is the bird.

The bird isn’t the prisoner.

The bird is free—but rather than helping the mind escape, it sees the brain as something it can consume.

That image represents a harsh reality explored throughout the album: people who may only approach you for what they can take from you.

A piece of you.
Your energy.
Your ideas.
Your resources.
Your pain.

While you remain trapped inside the cage.

That’s where the mantra of the album emerges:

MIND OVER MATTER.

The Carnal of LZ is about confronting the physical world without allowing it to completely imprison the mind.

It is about sin before ministry, survival before revelation, oppression before freedom, and darkness before awakening.

The journey through California, the imprisonment, the fight for survival, and the emotions experienced along the way found their way into this body of work. What happened outside the music became part of the music.

And that makes this album different.

You’re not simply listening to an album. You’re entering a chapter of LZThir13’s life.

This is the LZ who was still fighting to understand himself.

The LZ who had been through the cage.

The LZ who was looking for a way out.

And the LZ who eventually realized that the first prison you have to escape is the one surrounding your mind.

THE CARNAL OF LZ

A story of sin.
A story of survival.
A story of oppression.
A story of awakening.

Before the ministry… there was the carnal.
