MLK Day

MLK Day

On this day a couple of decades ago came along a man who was responsible for people like Oprah and Obama being shown the way the’re shown to us today. This guy whom I’ve never met in real life for being before my time was MLK and also before the creation of the Hip Hop culture. Today they celebrate in honor of MLK who’s congregation felt no need to mention the names of the supposed greatest rappers alive known today, and instead introduced an unknown kid who opened the show in their musical play. I thought was a spit in the face to those that are supposed worth mentioning in commemoration of MLK. The fact that they were not mentioned by their speaker accept Oprah and Obama says that their mere name is irrelevant and not worthy enough to be associated with the history of the makings of the likes of MLK, which means they’re oblivious and i’m trying not to be.

I can only share a few thoughts on this day and hope to attach it to whatever greatness MLK has left for us to commemorate. In a time where the media tends to want to revert to old ways instead of moving forward towards a better tomorrow. Now more than ever the remembrance of MLK speeches are revived once again to remind us of our brotherhood as human beings not brought together by color or creed but by faith and love. I’d like to say in a time where computers, phones, and internet access has allowed us to more openly share without the fear of being persecuted against. I’d like to say in this time where division and separateness is no longer seen but rather marriage through union and understanding brought us together the way we currently mingle, to which could not have happened if it were not for minds like MLK.

So on this day of this year i’d like an opportunity to express and share the importance of not forgetting that we are not to judge one by the color of their skin but by the contents of their character. Looking beyond the appearance of discrimination and onto the one of equality in the sense that we all have a soul and bleed the same, and we share the same air. We can now move forward pass the racial slurs and move onto more pressing matters like that of our restructuring our environment. To a place where we could all have a contributing factor in the assembly of such a spectacle. Putting behind our ignorance that has slowed us down for hundreds of years and rising to the occasion of a more intelligent discussion on how we could do this together. On this day I will leave my say on how my efforts in bringing forth this new kind of dream is achieved, and with all of you here we will have accomplished the greatest thing in history together thank you.
